This impressive tribal breastplate is made of woven plant fibers and covered with finely hand-assembled bone plates. Each element is precisely stitched, forming a scale-like structure offering both protection and aesthetic appeal. This type of armor was traditionally worn by warriors during tribal conflicts, as well as during ritual ceremonies and prestige demonstrations. It symbolizes strength, status, and belonging to a community. Although sometimes attributed to Sumba, this piece more closely corresponds to the traditions of the Dayak peoples of Borneo, renowned for their warrior equipment made from natural materials.

Today, this armor is a rare collector's item, ideal for high-end ethnic decor or a gallery-style interior.
