Tau-Tau Head – Toraja, Sulawesi, Indonesia

This Tau-Tau head comes from the Toraja culture on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Tau-Tau are spiritual representations of ancestors, used during funeral rites and placed near graves to maintain the link between the living and the spirits.

This carved wooden piece features shell-inlaid eyes, a traditional detail that reinforces its symbolic and spiritual presence.
